2018 Greetings from the Chancellor

Welcome from the MSU Billings Chancellor

Dear Friends of Wine, Food and MSU Billings,

Welcome to Montana State University Billings and the 2018 Wine & Food Festival. We appreciate your joining us for the 26th year of this signature event for the university.

My wife Sandee and I arrived in Billings only a few weeks ago. In this short time, we’ve been overwhelmed by the welcoming nature of the MSU Billings and City College campuses and the community.

As our tag line states, MSU Billings has a long and rich history in Billings and Eastern Montana, providing “access and excellence” in education. I hope to carry these traditions forward, further elevate the institution’s reputation, and shine a spotlight on the great work of our students, faculty and staff.

The Wine & Food Festival raises funds for an important cause — student scholarships. As the new Chancellor, students are my top priority and are at the heart of everything the university does. During the festival, you’ll have opportunity to hear from our students and learn about their challenges, achievements, and plans. Higher education provides a great foundation for helping them on the road to attaining their dreams.

This event wouldn’t be possible without the hard work of many. A special thanks to Jeanne Moller, who directs the festival’s planning, co-chairs Sheila Christopherson and Stacey Suydam, MSU Billings Foundation President and CEO Bill Kennedy, the Foundation staff and board, and numerous volunteers. The festival’s partners and sponsors also deserve our gratitude for their contributions.

We hope you enjoy the fantastic food and wine, the great company, and the many experiences offered throughout the Wine & Food Festival. Together, we all have a wonderful opportunity to make a difference in student lives and the future workforce for Billings and Eastern Montana. Open your hearts, bid generously, and rally around scholarships.

I look forward to meeting many of you throughout the festival and would encourage you to come visit the university whenever you have the opportunity.
