Katie and Michael Hildebrand

1.How long have you been married/together?
We have been together for 15 years, married for nine.
2.How did you meet?
We were high school sweethearts, but you know life in a small town we knew each other well before then. He was even in attendance at my 6th grade birthday party, swimming in the pond at my parent’s house that our kiddos now play in.
3.When did you and your partner graduate?
Katie graduated in December of 2011 and Michael in 2012.
4.What is your favorite MSUB/EMC memory together?
Gosh so many fun memories! The track and cross-country trips probably top the list. Our first year at MSUB together we were given the opportunity to travel to San Diego for the regional meet. It was our first time visiting the ocean together! Otherwise, simply hanging out on campus chatting it up in the cafeteria or in Petro Hall with friends. So many great friendships were formed on this campus. It was such an enjoyable time in our lives!
5.How has your life changed since MSUB/EMC? What are you doing now?
We both work just down the hill from Campus at St. Vincent’s! Michael is a Medical Laboratory Scientist and Supervisor of the Chemistry Department. I am a Registered Nurse and so blessed to care for the itty-bitty babies in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. We are now a family of four with two amazing kiddos: Max 4 (y.o.) and Madelyn (1 y. o.). I still run though! Michael has since given it up, although I still have hopes of us running races together again someday.
6. What relationship advice do you have for others?
Oh man relationship advice. Communicate, celebrate the small accomplishments, make time for each other, and remember to take a little time for yourself too.
