February Letter to Alumni from Chancellor Edelman

Dear alumni,

Spring semester has begun, and it’s an exciting time to be at Montana State University Billings. There is plenty of good news to share, and much change is underway at your alma mater!

I’m excited to share that the university has reaffirmed our seven-year accreditation with the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities, which praised MSUB for its commitment and support of students. This regulatory process helps ensure the quality of our educational offerings and continual improvement for the university.

With accreditation complete, the university has begun drafting our new seven-year strategic plan with input from students, faculty, staff and the community. The plan’s key themes include:

  • Build educational programs to support student needs
  • Progressively grow the university
  • Strengthen relationships with the community to enhance partnership opportunities
  • Unify, invigorate, and engage MSUB’s structure and culture

As MSUB forges forward, it’s important for alumni like you to stay engaged with our university and support our future generation of students.

The spring has also been a time of celebration. Our 2019 Outstanding Alumni Award winners were announced and will be celebrated at a luncheon on March 22. I welcome you to attend; you can purchase tickets on our website. Congratulations to these award winners, and to all of our alumni for your work advancing your fields, improving your communities, and your contributions to MSUB.

I’ve been fortunate to know some of these award recipients since starting my role as Chancellor of Montana State University Billings last spring. I can attest that they truly are outstanding in everything they do.

I’m continually amazed by our alumni’s contributions and the difference you all are making in Billings, Montana, our nation, and beyond.

Dr. Dan Edelman, CPA
