August letter to alumni from Chancellor Edelman

Dear alumni,

It’s hard to believe fall semester will be here in just a few weeks. Over Labor Day Weekend, our residential students will move into the halls on campus. Our volunteer team of Movers and Shakers will welcome students and help them get settled in their rooms. We’ve got a full slate of Welcome Week activities for students to enjoy, with classes starting on September 4.

Fall is my favorite time of year at MSU Billings. With the new academic year comes renewed energy and excitement on our campuses. There are also plenty of reasons for alumni, students, faculty, staff, and the public to visit our university.

Mark your calendar

Cheer for Yellowjackets at a game near you as soccer, volleyball, and cross country teams kick off the athletic season. Our fall sports teams will host athletic events in Billings and travel throughout the Great Northwest Athletic Conference. Watch the Fall Lecture Series at the MSU Billings Library, and explore the latest art exhibits at Northcutt Steele Gallery.

In early October, Jacket Homecoming returns to MSU Billings with a variety of great activities. Don’t miss our first-ever Homecoming Car Show on Saturday, October 5 starting at 4:30 p.m. The show will include live music, prizes and food trucks – I encourage you to come join in the fun!

The Alumni Association will also hit the road again with new Buzzin’ Beyond Billings stops across Montana and the nation. You can get tickets now for events in Butte, Helena, and Great Falls taking place this October.

Stay involved

As alumni, we want you to stay connected to MSU Billings. Volunteer to be a Mover and Shaker, attend athletic games, see lectures, visit art exhibits, and enjoy Homecoming. To learn more about upcoming activities like these, just visit our online calendar. New events are added regularly, so continue to check back for updates!

I encourage you to reach out to the Alumni Association. Our energetic director, Gillette Vaira, will welcome you with open arms. She can connect you with these and other great opportunities offered by your alma mater. After all, your experience with MSU Billings continues long past commencement. We hope you continue to stay involved with our great campus.

Sincerely,

Dr. Dan Edelman, CPA
